Fractured Thoughts

Hi all, I have returned from the black hole I have been living in for the last... well let's just say it's been awhile since I've posted.

I've been busy reading through supernatural fic and inception fic and buying (and watching) lots of films with Joseph Gordon Levitt or Tom Hardy in to fuel my obsession. I have also been enjoying netflix's arrival to this side of the Atlantic (it is a large part of the reason I am now the owner of a new TV and an internet blu-ray player), rewatching Numb3rs and Avatar the last Airbender and have rather a long list of series I've been meaning to watch that I can now legally stream in HD and in order .

Mostly though I have disappeared into the world of swagbucks and superpoints, which pay me in amazon vouchers or paypal for messing around on the internet (and thus pay for the blu-ray, TV, and JGL and TH films) and are depressingly addictive. I'm not going to put a whole post up about them (at least not yet) because I'm still debating whether that's OK in a mainly fandom blog but the links above are referral links if anyone wants to join and feel free to ask about them if you're interested, they are US sites but also work for UK (like me), Canada and I think Australian users.

In other news I finally got round to buying (what was supposed to be) a legitimate copy of Hikaru No Go (I'm gradually trying to make sure I have boxsets for everything).... Not entirely convinced whether the boxset I had imported is real or not the disks and box looks real but the chapters on the DVD are put together really badly and the subtitles are terrible.

I know people often say fansubs are better than the official one's (and they often are) but these - in some places it is like someone put the script into babel fish and then put that up on the screen. Seriously they really are that bad, it's not just that it doesn't match what they are saying it's actually not really English (and bizarrely they change the characters names in the subtitles, for some unknown reason Hikaru becomes Kanazi, why???????). I only know what's going on at all because I understand a little Japanese and remember the story.

Have just finished my right through from Season 1 marathon of supernatural, season 6 all done and dusted......

Gah .... When the hell is Season 7 starting because seriously I need to know what happens next? This is why I hate it when I've caught up I have to wait months to find out what happens.

 :0) another episode of the Doctor and I just love this show more and more. I won't say much more because I wouldn't want to spoil anything for anyone but I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series. Oh and also just as an aside I already loved them for their casting of Canton (because he's as brilliant here as he is as Jim Sterling) but I love you even more Dr Who for the way you take things that some other shows ignore or sidestep and just occasionally poke them with a sharp stick.

Just been watching the trailer for the new series of Doctor Who. (I hadn't realised it was starting so soon but Neil Gaiman posted it on facebook). Yay more Doctor, and it looks good :0).

Just realised it's been awhile since I've been on here. I've now finished the 3rd season of Leverage (this is the main reason for my absence, 3 seasons of a fun new, to me, show to watch). I'm very upset that i now have to wait for them to make the next season (I hope they're making a new season) before I can watch any more. Hmm... must go find some leverage icons.

Now that I have finished though I may just be able to get back to writing, though there are still lots of Leverage fics out there for me to find and read so no promises :0). 

Enjoyed the Doctor Who Christmas special tonight, there was plot holes big enough to drive a truck through (probably not helped by my Grandmother sitting next to me asking what was going on every 5 minutes, so maybe they were filled in whilst she was talking) but it was great fun and Matt Smith is a lovely and very funny Doctor.

Went from Dr Who to (sort of) Torchwood as I watched the Strictly come dancing christmas special, complete with John Barrowman competing. Not surprisingly he's a very good dancer. Though when Len Goodman (one of the Judges) said John Barrowman 'gave me jingle bells' in response to his dance I couldn't help think of that icon of pat_t 's which was a very scary mental image when applied to Len Goodman (wikipedia entry).

I was recently introduced to 'The Big Bang Theory', one of my colleagues just lent me the first series.... I've just watched the first two of three DVDs. That programme is great, and hilarious. Though now I'm trying to convince myself that I'm not really  that much like the characters  (except without the redeeming over inflated IQ of course).

Well yesterday I caved and bought more icon spaces for my LJ, I now have 250 icon spaces, so I don't have to keep  deleting icons to put in new ones. Hmm I need more icons to fill up the spots (after all not to use them would be a waste of money), I have loads of highlander ones and I haven't had a chance to look at the last of couple of challenges yet. Will have to hunt round for some in my other fandoms as well, I wouldn't want to be unfair after all :0).

I watched the latest Dr Who episode last night :0)... really liked this episode but now I have to wait a whole week for part 2 :0( I'm loving this new series.

Hmm what else... I feel I should apologise for being less active here than normal, I just don't have a lot of time in the week to read all the posts, yesterday I skimmed through 330 posts to catch up and I don't think I commented on any of them, sorry. This working full time thing is more time consuming than I remember it being (not helped by the hour commute each way).

Well I'm now up to date with burn notice... really enjoyed it, would recommend it to anyone who hasn't caught  it yet. I also finally finshed watching the first season of the Mentalist just in time for the second series to start at the end of next month ^_^, (if the internet cam be believed).

I need a new bit of TV to watch --- any suggestions. I'm really behind on Bleach I haven't watched it in months --- yay I will have a Bleach marathon, I need some US type drama series too to keep me occupied as well.
