All the kids on summer holidays running around under foot gave me a fic list bunny, and I decided to write about the summers of some of my favourite characters. Yes I know I'm already writing lots of different stories but this is a sort of seasonal one-shot, (which I might continue with some other characters because I haven't done any of the pilots yet and they don't like being left out).

Title: How I spent my Summers
Rating: PG
Warnings: some of them are a little sad, with some implied child abuse, there's slash in Methos' and (shock horror) het in most of them,
Fandom: Multiple
Characters:

Vin Tanner (ATF universe):

Aged 5- Vin hid under the desk in his Mama’s room listening to her cough, his knees drawn up under his chin he would wait until she called for him and then he would come running to her and they would go to the park or to get an ice-cream. She would call for him if he just waited.

Aged 10 - Vin spent the summer holidays in the woods or at the reservation, quick to offer to help and even quicker to disappear before he became unwanted. Vin spent the summer anywhere his foster father was not.

Aged 14 - Vin learnt to shoot his newest foster father’s rifle under the heat of the Texas summer sun and the wary eyes of his guardian who would offer a half smile of pride every time he hit his targets. Vin hit a lot of targets.

Aged 17- Vin spent his summer on the streets of Denver living day to day searching out food and shelter.

Aged 20- Vin spent the summer in uniform and under fire, watching men on both sides of a bloody conflict die under the unmerciful pounding of bullets.

Aged 25- Vin joined the ATF in August by September he had not 1 but 6 new brothers and they had one of the most impressive arrest rates in the history of the organisation.

Aged 27 - Vin spent his summer on holiday hiking in the mountains with Chris.

Methos

Aged 15 - Methos lay in fields watching sheep and trying to persuade the local girls to join him.

Aged 104- Methos lived for the quickening, he hunted and killed and learnt to do anything to survive.

Aged 1023- Methos died over and over again under the sacrificial knife, until one day he was able to turn the knife back on the priests and leave behind a trail of the dead. Sacrificed to him.

Aged 2000- Methos spent his summer, like his winter tearing through settlements and watching them burn.

Aged 2612- Methos lived in Greece and spent his days listening to philosophers argue about the meaning of life and his nights drinking wine and sleeping in other men‘s beds.

Aged 3062 - Methos took a trip with two friends to follow a strange astronomical convergence, and left a gold chain as a birthing present with the child they found.

Aged 3609- Methos spent a long hot and lazy summer with Xanthia, later known as Rebecca.

Aged 4672 - Methos tended to the sick and dying, in between calls to rich patrons with food poisoning or sprained ankles.

Aged 5137 - Methos spent the summer sitting in a bar listening to Blues and laughing at Duncan Macleod of the clan Macleod.

Chris Larabee (old west)

Aged - 12 Chris spent his summer on his parents ranch getting underfoot and practicing shooting and riding.

Aged 19- Chris signed up to the union army and went off to war, anything to escape the boredom of home. He marched and he killed and he nearly died.

Aged 22- Chris went drinking, fighting, shooting and passing time with any woman he could charm. He broke heads and tables and left bullets in other men, and met an adventurous young lady called Ella

Aged 25- Chris tried to win the attentions of the Sarah Conelley, with jokes and smiles and rides in the countryside, all the while ducking the fists of her father.

Aged 27 - Chris spent the summer nights with his new wife, and the days he spent building their new home and laughing at the antics of his old friend Buck Wilmington.

Aged 29 - Chris watched his son take his first steps and listened to him speak his first words.

Aged 34 - Chris staggered in and out of bars fighting with anyone who tried to stop him from drinking himself into an early grave whilst Buck watched with sad eyes, until one day Buck wasn't there anymore.

Aged 36- Chris was called out 14 times, he survived. They didn’t.

Aged 37- Chris met the eyes of a bounty hunter across a dusty street and they went to rescue a man from being hung. The rest as they say is history.

Chris Perry Halliwell - twice

Aged 7 - Wyatt and Chris spent the summer holidays orbing between the manor and the fairy kingdom when their parents weren’t looking, until Wyatt got mad and burned one of the fairies and they weren’t invited anymore

Aged 7 - Wyatt and Chris spent the summer holidays orbing between the manor and the fairy kingdom when their parents weren’t looking, until Piper found out and grounded them for a week, after that Wyatt and Chris had to take Piper or Leo with them.

Aged 9- Chris sat on the landing with his hands wrapped round the banisters as he listened to his parents fight, until he heard his Dad leave then he ran downstairs.

Aged 9 - Chris went to baseball games with his Dad and ate his Mom’s cookies and tried to persuade Wyatt to take him on vanquishes.

Aged 11- One day Wyatt pushed him down the stairs and broke his arm. After that Chris hid his books and games because sometimes when Wyatt found them he would smash them.

Aged 11 - Chris and Wyatt spent most of the summer arguing until Chris tripped down the stairs. After he healed him Wyatt hugged him and apologised and let him come with him to Jake Lewis’ house.

Aged 14 - Chris watched his Mom die, he wore black to the funeral and sat between his Aunt Phoebe and his Aunt Paige and wondered where Wyatt was.

Aged 14 - Chris went on vanquishes with Wyatt behind their parents back, but when demons attacked on his birthday Chris was able to vanquish two whilst his Mom blew up the other three.

Aged 18 - Chris spent his summer running, Wyatt had taken over America and the streets were filled with demons and witch-hunters.

Aged 18 - Chris graduated at the top of his class, he spent weeks teasing Wyatt who 'only' managed to place 6th.

Aged 21 - Wyatt hired a Phoenix to bring Chris to him. They ended up running away together instead.

Aged 21- Chris and Wyatt shared a flat 3 miles from the manor, Chris spent most of his summer orbing the younger cousins back home and clearing up dirty dishes left by uninvited guests.

Aged 23 - Chris was born, and died, on the same day.

Aged 23 - Chris, Wyatt and the cousins vanquished the new source.

Aged 25 - Chris met a girl, her name is Bianca.

As I said I may do more of these later I find them fun but I think that's enough for one post :0).

i kind of like this format - it wouldn't for everything, but it gives a good solid emotional background to the characters.

I like it too, it tells the barebones and lets the reader flesh it out. It almost says more because it says so little.

Plus I find it so much easier and more fun to write. I tend to fill my fics with 'and then he left the room, and then she entered and picked up...' you get the idea, and everything gets lost in the getting the characters from A to B. Particularly as I haven't written much in the Mag 7 (or charmed) fandom before so I'm still learning the characters.

Liked it, some more than others:). Espesially Chris at 36, Vin at 14 and Methos at 3609 :). Think I have a date for a flashback in the next Methos/Rebecca story:).

Thank you :-) those were some of my favourite bits.

Ooo will look forward to your Methos/Rebecca fic, I really like them.

In my head canon Methos and Rebecca have this really fantastic (and long) friendship, they meet up spend time together and if neither of them is in a relationship then they sleep together and may spend a year or even a decade happily living together. Mortal relationships come first, and unlike Amanda and Duncan they can be close platonic friends if one of them is in a relationship without any difficulty. They both love each other but are not in love with each other.

I agree, but I think they prefer to make themselves scarce around each other when there are mortal relationships - just not to confuse mortals:).
By the way, have you read my "Once in Rome"?:)

I love the Chris Halliwell one! Such an interesting way to approach it, and the ending actually brought a little tear to my eye -- the impact of just one "Aged 25" and, of course, who he has met. :) (Because I love those two and choose to believe they found each other in the changed timeline.)

Thank you glad you enjoyed it. I haven't written much charmed stuff yet (I have one fairly long crossover that I keep meaning to finish) so it's a nice way to teach myself about the character.

I too loved the end of the Chris Halliwell one. Very cool.

Chris Larabee at 34 ... until one day Buck wasn't there anymore. Very poignant. Great format - and each summer tells a story.

These were wonderful, the format really worked well here, giving just enough detail to make each summer distinct and enough time to show character development.

(would you be interested in doing Buck as well?)

Thank you, yes I want to do some more I was thinking of doing Buck and Ezra in another post. I do enjoy writing in this sort of format I find it so much easier.

Very cool format, really worked well here. I like the character progression it shows. Would love to read more.

Thank you glad you like it, I like writing in this style. I'm planning to do more characters I think either tomorrow or over the weekend.
