I'm back (in case the previous posts didn't tip you off). Yay I survived without the internet for almost a week, am glad to have it back. Hope everyone had a good Easter, been reading through all the posts, think I've commented on most of the fics at least.
Had a great time over at my Mum's went for long muddy walks and got snowed on (very strange weather for Easter) and tried not to eat too much chocolate. My usericon is my cat she was 'helping me' make the bed up (well I call her my cat but my Mum stole her when I went to university and has never given her back, so now I get visitation rights). Went to the Tate Britain Gallery was slightly alarmed when my Mum mentioned that she and her friend used to go there on their own when she was small, the idea of letting two ten year old girls go into and walk around central London on their own is unthinkable today or even when I was little. Shows how much the world has changed I suppose. Spent another day out shopping for something to wear to Mum's wedding, just need some shoes to go with it now (and to persuade my brother to give me a lift down). Managed to get over to see my Dad as well which was fun, his wife's daughter and her family were down too and we all had fun playing on their Wii and getting drunk.
Did a fair bit of writing as well so should have some more zero X ready to update this week and have done loads on both of my compositions for
one_character, though I still think I'm only going to get one done. The Gundam Wing one I'm doing is on Sally Po of all people, which I'm finding interesting as I didn't feel like I knew her very well as a character so it's been a learning experience, I know some of you write longer work than that but 10,000 words seems like lots to me.

i wouldn't think you would have let 10 year olds wander around on their own pretty much at any time in london's history... though, i guess it depends on which area of london they'd be hanging out in. but, i know what you mean. i just shutter in horror at what my sibs and i were allowed to do and try to relate it today's society...it's not so much that people have changed, but it's more common for bad things to happen.
good luck on writing! :)

I couldn't understand it either, small town back then I can see that, but central London.... It is in quite a nice part of town I suppose but still. Nobody would ever let any child wander around unsupervised today, if nothing else the complexity of the London transport system and the pure volume of cars now-a-days is pretty dangerous. Apparently it wasn't uncommon to see young kids wandering around on their own back then.
